The best places to take your jet ski this summer

With the summer fast approaching, now is the time to dust off the jet ski and start thinking about the best places to visit to test your jet skiing skills. If you’re new to the joys of the jet ski then there are some places offering jet skis to hire. Around the country you will find many jet ski centres and clubs but the majority will require you to bring your own machine. These machines are incredible and are built with precision in mind which is why Euromac Bending Machines are often used to shape the metal.

Torbay, South Devon

This is very popular site for jet skiers with over 20 miles of coastline and an easy distance from the harbours of Paignton, Torquay and Brixham. Torbay, in particular, has a growing reputation as being a jet-ski-friendly resort but before getting into the sea, if you are within 16 square miles of Torbay harbour, you must first register with the Harbour Authority.

Middlemoor Water Park, Somerset

A water park with a purpose-built 20 acre lake in a lovely, rural setting. As well as jet skiing, you can take part in water skiing, wakeboarding and windsurfing. Windsurfing tuition is available from beginner all the way to competition level. This is one venue where you can hire 2 and 3 seater jet skis. Personal jet skis are available at £20 per hour and wet suits and safety equipment usage is free.

Colwyn Jet Ski Club, Wales

Formed in 1996, the Colwyn Jet Ski Club has an agreement with the local authorities which allows club members to gain preferential access to the Victoria Pier Slipway in Colwyn Bay. Membership also includes exclusive use of the slipway on Sundays and Bank holidays up to 12 noon. The club is a brilliantly safe environment for family jet skiing and there’s also an on-site Royal Yachting Association Training Centre with courses available throughout the year to members.

Lagoona Park, Reading

The convenient thing about Lagoona Park is that it’s open all year round from 10.30am to dusk every day. There is an annual membership option or a day one depending on how often you intend to visit. Tuition is also available here in 30 minute sessions and you can also do RYA training at both beginner and experienced levels.

Trafford Water Sports Centre, Cheshire

The Cheshire Jet Ski Club is a private club offering a full-time membership currently to over 40 families. The membership requirements state that all members have passed the RYA Personal Watercraft Proficiency Course. Do not fear though, it is possible to ski here if you are not a member – you will just need to call in advance to confirm launch dates and times. You can visit the lake all year round with summer skiing days being Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday. Winter skiing days take place at weekends.

Here you will find one of the few venues that offer jet ski hire. You’ll find a jet ski lake and good leisure facilities but it is quite exclusive so you would need to apply in advance if you wanted to become a member. Nene Valley also offers space for people to come and use their power boats. There are numerous membership packages available ranging from peak times to full day access.
