Lake Tahoe

My first stop was the Zephyr Cove Resort, a beautiful private resort located on Lake Tahoe. At 1,800 meters above sea level, the largest alpine lake in North America is one of the most beautiful areas in the American West. Zephyr Cove Resort offers many fun activities, but you can also just relax: soak up the sun, indulge yourself in the restaurants, or go out in the evening for a drink. The first thing I did was rent a kayak and I had a lot of fun floating in the huge lake. You can also enjoy in motor boats, try paragliding, horseback riding, play volleyball or just do nothing and enjoy the sun. Had he already said that?

Dream Beach at Sand Harbor

If you like white sand beaches, you can’t miss Sand Harbor. As the name suggests, the place is famous for its fine sand. Located on a beautiful bay in the huge Lake Tahoe State Park, it has the most spectacular scenic views. Also, this location is popular for diving and snorkelling. If you are looking for peace and quiet, it is best to come early. My visit was during the morning as the water calmly gleamed in the sun. I sat on a rock, took a deep breath, and felt that the world was mine.

History of the West and Bonanza

The trip continued with a visit to Virginia City, where the famous television series Bonanza was filmed. The instant you step foot on the original restored wooden sidewalks, you will feel like you’ve traveled back in time. In 1859, large deposits of silver were mined and almost overnight the city became the richest in Nevada. Today, Virginia City is a historic monument.

Canteens and casinos in Virginia CityLake Tahoe

As night fell I noticed that many locals, one by one, were walking to the end of the street, so I followed them to find that they were entering the Red Dog Saloon! I hesitated a bit, but was instantly greeted warmly. The person suggested that I try their homemade pizza. It was great! There was a band playing and the locals, some dressed in period costume, were enjoying their beers and drinks at the rustic wooden bar. This classic place completely transported me to the past. Someone asked me to dance, then someone else and someone else. I danced, laughed, and had so much fun that I didn’t want that amazing night to end. Another another!

If you want to enjoy more of the Nevada nightlife I also suggest going to the Nevada / California state line. There you can try your luck by playing at one of the many casinos the South Shore area has to offer.
