Cartagena de Indias is a Colombian city north of Bogota. It is a must-see destination that should be on our travel plans as it has an interesting historical and cultural background.

And so much so, that the city was considered World Heritage by UNESCO. Also recently it hosted the important Summit of the Americas.

Cartagena de Indias are divided between the old city and the new city. The first is surrounded by walls that were built to protect themselves from attacks by pirates in the sixteenth century. Here all the charm of Cartagena meeting as one can see the old houses with architecture of the time, and even can take horseback riding. Are you ready to enjoy this trip?

To promote tourism and to know their culture, the city has historical tours. You can perform the famous City Tour that will take you through the main attractions of the city as the clock tower, the ground of the Pegasos, the Castle of San Felipe de Barajas, the Plaza de Los Coches, Casa del Marqués del Real Prize and the Customs House, among others.

In addition, they highlight the goats, which are the typical colors of Colombia buses and can be found in different parts of the city. On the other hand, I would like to share a little advice of an informed traveler: this tour is even more interesting if you perform with a guide! Since you have incredible stories of different places.

And for beach lovers, I recommend you enjoy the Caribbean Sea traveling to the Rosario Islands. These are about an hour by boat from Cartagena. Among the most interesting activities on the island stand out the snorkel and enjoy the spectacle of dolphins near the beach.

If you are interested in this getaway while visiting the city, make sure your Cartagena hotel has a special agreement to travel to the island.
